Learn how to make crepe paper flowers with this mini paper sunflower tutorial and template.

Skill Level - Intermediate + Advanced

This paper flower template is suitable for intermediate and advanced paper florists.

The mini sunflower has several important steps to get the centre to look right, so I would recommend starting with some easier flowers first if you are new to paper flower making.

Materials List

Heavyweight German crepe paper - I'm using Lia Griffith Nectarine, Amber, Gold, Juniper, and Onyx
Scrap crepe paper in any colour
Floral wire, paper or cloth covered - 16 or 18 gauge x 1, 22 or 24 gauge x 2
Tacky glue
Small pot and cocktail stick (optional)
Ruler or measuring tape
Scissors
Pliers
Mod Podge - matte or glossy
Mop brush
Pan Pastels in Burnt Sienna and Yellow Ochre
Sponge

This template is for mini sunflowers, which should have a finished sized of approx. 4" diameter, perfect for in a bouquet.

Print out the paper sunflower template at home, and then cut around it to use with my YouTube Crepe Paper Sunflower Tutorial below (step by step and timelapse versions available).

The tutorial is for larger sunflowers, but the steps and process are exactly the same. The template is just scaled to be the correct size for mini sunflowers, and there are slightly less petals. Follow the centre size as indicated on the template.
